Full Guide for Mac Users

Modified on Wed, Dec 17 at 8:22 PM

Mac users can connect to their Cloud PC in two ways:

1. Through our web portal → https://dash.v2cloud.com

2. Using the V2 Cloud Desktop App for Mac → https://v2cloud.com/download

Using Safari (Web Portal)

Allow Clipboard Redirection

- Open Safari → Preferences

- Go to the Websites tab

- On the left-hand menu, select Clipboard

- Locate the V2 Cloud portal website in the list

  - If it’s listed → set it to Allow

  - If it’s not listed → go to the site and attempt a copy/paste action. Safari will prompt you to allow clipboard access

Allow Pop-Ups in Safari

- Open Safari → Preferences

- Click the Websites tab

- On the left-hand menu, select Pop-up Windows

- Find dash.v2cloud.com in the site list

  - Set it to Allow

  - If it’s not listed → visit the portal once, then return to this menu and adjust the setting

Using the Mac V2 Cloud App

To connect via the desktop app, you’ll need two things:

- The V2 Cloud Desktop App

- Microsoft Remote Desktop Beta (must be set as the default for .rdp files)

How to Set Microsoft Remote Desktop Beta as Default for RDP Files on Mac

1. Install the Beta App

Download and install Microsoft Remote Desktop Beta from:

   https://install.appcenter.ms/orgs/rdmacios-k2vy/apps/microsoft-remote-desktop-for-mac/distribution_groups/all-users-of-microsoft-remote-desktop-for-mac

2. Locate an .rdp File

Open the V2 App → go to Settings → select “Open default RDP parameters”

3. Open File Info

Right-click the .rdp file → select Get Info (Cmd + I)

4. Change Default Application

In the Get Info window, go to Open with → select Microsoft Remote Desktop Beta from the dropdown

5. Apply to All .rdp Files

Click Change All → confirm the prompt

6. Check V2 App Settings

Open the V2 Mac App → ensure the RDP toggle (top right) is ON

You can connect now, you won’t need to set up the MRDP again, it’s a one time thing.

Additional Considerations

- When connecting from Mac, you may be asked for a password. This is your Windows password for the Cloud PC, not your V2 portal credentials.

- To simplify logins, you can synchronize your Windows and V2 passwords so you only need to remember one.

*The user can check with the beta version of the Windows app. Some Mac versions have some weird redirection issues with the stable version. I included the link and the instructions to set it up in the guide.

The clipboard redirection has to work no matter what with RDP and the beta Windows app, if it doesn't, there's something we are missing with permissions, as the only other thing besides that, would be that the redirection is disallowed on the VM itself. *
